About the position

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is seeking enthusiastic seasonal Hosts to join our team at Peaks of Otter Lodge, located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains of Bedford, Virginia. As a Host, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences for our guests by welcoming them and managing the host station. This position is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy interacting with people. You will be responsible for reviewing the floor plan and reservation book daily to create seating charts, seating guests, and maintaining control of wait times. Additionally, you will inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup, speak with guests to ensure their satisfaction with food and service, respond to any complaints, and thank guests as they leave. This role requires effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high energy level. Please note that Peaks of Otter Lodge does not provide employee housing, and this is a tipped position, with an hourly minimum pay of $12.15, not including potential tipped earnings. Responsibilities

  • Review floor plan and reservation book daily to create seating charts
  • Seat guests and maintain control of wait times
  • Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup
  • Speak with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service, respond to complaints, and thank guests as they are leaving
  • Answer restaurant telephone line during assigned hours of operation

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a guest service environment preferred
  • Ability to maintain a high energy level in a fast paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests and team members
  • No high school diploma or GED required
