About the position

As a Host at Belaire Backyard Clique, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests in a high-end dining environment. This role emphasizes excellent interpersonal skills, polished presentation, and the ability to manage guest flow effectively while maintaining professionalism. You will play a key role in ensuring guests have an unforgettable experience, from greeting them upon arrival to bidding them farewell.

Responsibilities

• Greeting guests in a positive, friendly manner and making them feel welcome.
• Anticipating guests' needs and responding appropriately with urgency.
• Maintaining professionalism to encourage guest return.
• Controlling the flow of guests into the restaurant, bar, and lounge under pressure.
• Overseeing daily restaurant reservations and pre-assigning seating as necessary.
• Answering telephone calls and directing them appropriately.
• Communicating with staff regarding VIPs, special orders, and large parties.
• Participating in weekly marketing requirements and adhering to guest list requirements.
• Assisting in developing the restaurant database through networking.
• Encouraging guests to make weekly table reservations and building personal clientele.
• Performing opening and closing duties based on shift assignment.
• Cleaning menu covers and maintaining the podium area.
• Following all company procedures and health regulations.

Requirements

• 1 year experience as a hostess in a similar, high-volume restaurant environment or 6 months in a fine dining establishment.
• 1 year experience in marketing nightclubs, restaurants, or related experience preferred.
• Experience with social media platforms and active participation in social media.
• Good communication skills; multilingual is a plus.
• Proficient in speaking and reading English.
• Ability to program and operate a multi-line telephone.
• Basic computer skills and experience with POS systems and cash handling.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a high-stress environment.
• Ability to follow directions, make quick decisions, and stay organized under pressure.
• Positive attitude, self-motivated, energetic, and willing to learn.
• Ability to perform duties with care and attention to detail.
• Professionally groomed according to department standards.
• Physically able to walk and stand for extended periods.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in marketing or related university marketing courses.
