The Area Director of Sales and Marketing is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. This position has direct oversight of the Sales and Marketing operations for the Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk and the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk. The Area Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for managing the Sales and Marketing Budget/P&L, revenue forecasting, advertising, marketing, and developing and writing business plans, as well as participating in ownership meetings. In this role, the Area Director of Sales and Marketing supervises sales managers, trainees, interns, and administrative staff. Responsibilities also include the recruitment and hiring of sales staff, training, managing, and coaching sales managers to enhance their selling processes to meet company goals and maximize hotel revenues. The ideal candidate must be proficient in general computer knowledge and capable of training and monitoring both the group and transient contractual agreement processes, which includes quoting rates, sending referrals, setting traces, and managing retention, reactivation, and acquisition accounts. This position reports directly to the General Manager and Area Vice President Philip Stamm, as well as the Regional Vice President of Sales responsible for the Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk and the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Sales and Marketing operations of the Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk and the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk.
  • Manage the Sales and Marketing Budget/P&L and revenue forecasting.
  • Develop and write business plans and participate in ownership meetings.
  • Supervise sales managers, trainees, interns, and administrative staff.
  • Recruit and hire sales staff, and provide training and coaching to sales managers.
  • Monitor and manage the group and transient contractual agreement processes.
  • Quoting rates, sending referrals, and setting traces for accounts.
  • Manage retention, reactivation, and acquisition accounts.

Requirements

  • 6 years or more of progressive hotel Sales experience, preferably with Hyatt.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred, especially with opening hotels.
  • Demonstrated history of success in sales and marketing roles.
  • Results-driven, energetic, and focused on achieving goals.
  • Service-oriented style with professional presentation skills.
  • Hotel/Hospitality degree is an asset.
  • High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, and motivational leadership qualities.
  • Proven track record in high volume concepts and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and improve the bottom line.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
