About The Position

Mackinaw Seasonal Resorts, Inc. is seeking 41 full-time temporary Hotel Clerks for the season from April 1, 2025, to November 8, 2025. The role involves greeting and registering guests, managing room assignments, and ensuring customer satisfaction through various clerical and customer service tasks. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, as hours will vary based on business needs, with a focus on providing excellent service in a busy hotel environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle cash and perform basic bookkeeping tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests.
  • Contact housekeeping or maintenance staff when guests report problems.
  • Issue room keys and provide escort instructions to bellhops.
  • Make and confirm reservations.
  • Verify customers' credit and establish payment methods.
  • Keep records of room availability and guests' accounts using computers.
  • Post charges for rooms, food, liquor, or telephone calls to ledgers.
  • Review accounts and charges with guests during check-out.
  • Record guest comments or complaints and refer to managers as necessary.
  • Compute bills, collect payments, and make change for guests.
  • Transmit and receive messages using telephones or switchboards.
  • Answer inquiries about hotel services, guest registration, and travel directions.
  • Advise housekeeping staff when rooms are ready for cleaning.
  • Perform bookkeeping activities, such as balancing accounts and conducting nightly audits.
  • Clean and maintain lobby and common areas.
  • Prepare for basic food service, such as setting up breakfast or coffee supplies.
  • Sort and rack incoming mail and messages.
  • Arrange tours, taxis, or restaurant reservations for customers.
  • Deposit guests' valuables in hotel safes or safe-deposit boxes.
  • Plan, schedule, or supervise the work of other employees.
  • Report maintenance or equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Distribute materials to employees or customers.
