About the position

The General Maintenance Engineer at McKibbon Hospitality is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of hotel facilities, including plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and pool maintenance. This role is crucial for maintaining guest satisfaction and minimizing disruptions. The engineer works under the Chief Engineer and is expected to uphold high-quality standards in maintenance tasks while promoting a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the operations and functions of the hotel's interior and exterior areas.
• Perform various engineering skills and construction trades.
• Assist with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and pool maintenance.
• Train others in engineering skills and construction trades.
• Communicate operational activities, priorities, and problems with management and supervisors.
• Perform preventative maintenance on hotel equipment.
• Test pool and spa chemicals and handle fire equipment.
• Identify appropriate tools, parts, and equipment for maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a maintenance-type position.
• Knowledge of common causes of equipment malfunction.
• Ability to repair and replace basic heating and air conditioning systems.
• Basic painting and caulking skills.
• Experience using standard hand tools (wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.).
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance methods and techniques.
• Ability to perform tests to check for normal operation of equipment.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to address customer complaints.
