About the position

The Hotel General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of property management at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Lake Elmo, MN. This role focuses on maximizing financial performance, ensuring guest satisfaction, and developing staff. The manager will lead the team to maintain high standards and implement strategies to enhance the hotel's operations and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Achieves budgeted sales and maximum profitability.
  • Actively manages the P & L statement, reviews and critiques performance.
  • Assists in teaching the process to all members of the Executive Staff.
  • Assesses and reviews the job performance of subordinates.
  • Maintains personnel records of assigned staff members.
  • Communicates effectively within the property.
  • Coordinates internal training and development programs.
  • Creates and maintains a 'Guest First' priority throughout the property.
  • Monitors and maintains high standards of guest satisfaction in the F and B Department.
  • Directs and executes creative presentation with all food and beverage presentations.
  • Creates new programs in response to market conditions and revenue opportunities.
  • Responsible for submitting reports regarding labor, costs, inventory, incentives, etc.
  • Develops programs to implement the long- and short-range budget objectives.
  • Ensures that effective cash and asset controls are in place throughout the property.
  • Ensures good safety practices of staff members and guests.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures.
  • Fully utilizes and follows through with guest comment programs.
  • Responds quickly to deficiencies and takes corrective action.
  • Ensures regular assessment and review of all hotel & restaurant staff members.
  • Maintains a high personal visibility throughout the property.
  • Maintains an appropriate level of community public affairs involvement.
  • Maintains knowledge of local competition and general industry trends.
  • Maximizes the Revenue and Yield Management Program on the property.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Hotel General Manager or similar managerial role in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong understanding of hotel management best practices and financial management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with boutique hotels or full-service hotels.
  • Knowledge of local market and competition.
  • Familiarity with revenue management systems.
