About the position

The Hotel General Manager at Icon Lodging in Midland, TX is responsible for overseeing all operations of the hotel, ensuring financial performance, guest satisfaction, and compliance with company standards. This role involves developing financial and operational plans, managing revenue sources, and leading the hotel staff to achieve company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develops short and long term financial and operational plans for the hotel which support overall company objectives.
  • Prepares the annual hotel budget.
  • Monitors hotel performance through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems and monthly financial reports.
  • Manages all sources of revenue including rooms, housekeeping, food and beverage, and engineering departments.
  • Works with the Director of Sales and performs duties of a Sales and Marketing manager as needed.
  • Orders supplies and equipment as needed in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensures staff receive proper training for each position, including safety training and standard operating procedures.
  • Inspects guests' rooms, public access areas, and outside grounds for cleanliness and appearance.
  • Adheres to all franchise and company procedures and regulations as well as standard operating procedures.
  • Ensures bank deposits are made daily.
  • Promotes hotel's policies and brand standards to employees and guests.
  • Allocates funds, authorizes expenditures and assists RDO in budget planning.
  • Produces daily and monthly financial reports and monitors hotel performance against budget.
  • Plans, implements and manages annual capital improvement projects with prior approval from VP of Operations or RDO.
  • Manages human resources functions of the hotel by controlling turnover and focusing on employee development and retention.
  • Protects the hotel and its assets through enforcing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Maintains compliance with all established ICON Lodging policies and procedures.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Ensures hotel compliance with all federal, state and local laws.

Requirements

  • Bilingual communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality or related field.
  • Previous experience in the hotel hospitality field.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic math and accounting knowledge.
  • Computer skills for reporting and analysis.

Nice-to-haves
