About the position

The Hotel Group Sales Manager at The DeSoto is responsible for generating new business and maximizing sales within the hospitality environment. This role involves sourcing leads, closing contracts, and developing client relationships to enhance the hotel's market presence. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic sales team and enjoy the challenges of the hospitality sales landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit and develop accounts utilizing sales strategies including outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, sales system tools, referrals, business memberships, and networking events.
  • Develop and execute action plans for direct sales and the development of client relationships, both new and repeat business.
  • Respond efficiently and quickly to all RFPs, customer requests, and correspondence, maintaining client contact trace dates for follow-up.
  • Set up and follow through with site inspections for potential clients.
  • Participate in trade shows, meetings, and events through membership associations for sales networking.
  • Communicate, plan, detail BEOs, and service business effectively.
  • Utilize Delphi and other sales systems to maximize performance and consistency.
  • Perform special projects, general office duties, and assist in other areas as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of property, company promotions, policies, menus, meeting spaces, and other support services for accurate client communication.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with hotel departments and clients.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and recommend changes to positively impact sales and operations.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records for sales history and continuity of quality service for clients.
  • Attend departmental meetings, trainings, and other meetings for proper communication and planning.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of college; degree desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Prefer experience in hotel sales and catering sales or related industry.
  • Aggressive, outgoing, and self-motivating individual with a pleasant personality.
