About the position

The Hotel Guest Service Representative is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to hotel guests. This role involves greeting and registering guests, managing room assignments, and ensuring guest safety and satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving. The representative plays a key role in maintaining the hotel's standards and ensuring a welcoming environment for all guests.

Responsibilities

  • Greets, registers, and suggestively sells hotel rooms to guests.
  • Issues room keys and assigns rooms in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Sets wake-up calls for guests as requested.
  • Follows established security procedures to ensure guest safety.
  • Sorts and racks incoming mail, faxes, and messages.
  • Records and communicates special requests and problems to the appropriate department.
  • Answers inquiries about hotel services, registration, and local attractions.
  • Accurately checks out guests and communicates departures to housekeeping staff.
  • Processes guest bills, collects payments, and makes change according to cash handling procedures.
  • Makes, confirms, and cancels reservations via various methods.
  • Answers and routes internal and external phone calls using prescribed procedures.
  • Posts charges to the ledger for room, food, liquor, or telephone.
  • Deposits guests' valuables in the hotel safe or safe deposit box.
  • Maintains an accurate shift-to-shift log for communication between shifts.
  • Keeps the hotel lobby and front desk area clean and organized.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to follow established security procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic math skills for handling payments and charges.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with hotel management software.
