About the position

The Sales Manager at Holiday Inn Wichita East I-35 is responsible for driving sales and promoting the hotel's services, with a strong emphasis on outside sales calls. This role involves networking, soliciting new business, and maintaining relationships with current accounts to meet and exceed sales goals. The position requires a proactive approach to sales, including preparing proposals, conducting property tours, and collaborating with various departments to ensure successful event planning.

Responsibilities

  • Make solicitation and service calls in person, through mail/email, and by telephone on assigned accounts to promote and sell hotel and restaurant facility space and services.
  • Perform outside sales calls the majority of the work week (over 50%).
  • Respond to inquiries from customers, prospects, other hotels, and the corporate office.
  • Prepare proposals and confirmations for group bookings and conduct tours of the property with prospective customers.
  • Inform other departments of upcoming events and work with them to ensure proper planning throughout the property.
  • Maintain and use the accounts tracing system/database and customer account files to generate future business.
  • Follow company credit and deposit policies when booking business.
  • Prepare sales reports and record sales calls and activities as required.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction through follow-up surveys, thank you cards, and calls.
  • Participate in industry and civic organizations to promote business opportunities.
  • Track activities of the competition and the market and the hotel's position in the market.
  • Participate in sales department meetings and weekly management meetings.
  • Plan and participate in sales blitzes and outside after-hours functions including chamber outings.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of marketing plans and action plans, give input to the development of special promotions or packages, and develop ideas to build occupancy.
  • Meet and/or exceed individual quantitative revenue and production goals set forth by the General Manager and Director of Sales.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of related experience in hotel sales or a similar field.
  • Strong sales and networking skills with a focus on outside sales calls.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general accounting reports, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with sales tracking software.
