About the position

The Granite School District is seeking an Hourly Eminence Teacher for Spanish at Bonneville Jr. High. This position allows the teacher to instruct one to two periods in their area of expertise, specifically Spanish. Candidates must possess a current Utah Secondary teaching license, an out-of-state license, or have been approved for an Associate Educator License (AEL) through the Utah State Board of Education. Alternatively, applicants may qualify with a bachelor's degree in Spanish from a regionally accredited university. The role requires the teacher to be the primary instructor and responsible for the classroom, ensuring a positive learning environment where students can thrive academically and socially. The selected candidate will be expected to develop lesson plans, utilize effective teaching techniques, and adapt the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students. The teacher will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive classroom environment, establishing standards of behavior, and communicating effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. The position begins on August 26, 2024, and applicants must complete a background check and submit necessary documentation prior to starting the role. The teacher will be expected to implement Proficiency-Based Grading and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance their teaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Spanish for one to two periods as the primary instructor.

Requirements

  • Current Utah Secondary teaching license or out-of-state license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Spanish from a regionally accredited university.
  • Approval for an Associate Educator License (AEL) through the Utah State Board of Education if applicable.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient in computer and educational technology skills.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
