About the position

3M is seeking an Hourly Plant Engineering Technician Maintenance located in Nevada, MO. This position involves diagnosing, testing, repairing, and making adjustments to AC and DC motors and drive systems that range in size from fractional horsepower to hundreds of horsepower. The technician will also work with pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems, control loops, and P.I.D. loops (4-20 milliamps), as well as industrial controllers, including analog and digital programmable controllers (PLCs). The role requires performing minor installation and modification of control and power wiring, up to and including 480 volts A.C., while ensuring compliance with N.E.C. and OSHA standards. The technician must assure compliance with proper procedures on work involving Intrinsically Safe and explosion-proof wiring, both in hands-on practices and in changing or modifying DC elementary drawings. In addition to the above responsibilities, the technician will read, understand, and appropriately change AC and DC elementary drawings and wiring diagrams in accordance with established 3M practices. Preventive maintenance tasks on controls and instrumentation will be performed, following standard procedures as indicated on P.M. route sheets or in equipment manuals. The technician will also support small and medium-sized capital and improvement projects, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the plant operations. Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, test, repair and make adjustments to AC and DC motors and drive systems.

Requirements

  • Possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years of industrial manufacturing technician experience in a private, public, government or military environment, or a technical or bachelor's degree in an engineering related field (Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, Robotics & Automation, etc).
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a fast-paced, deadline driven team.
  • Ability to work in a safe manner and follow safety protocols including Lock Out/Tag Out programs, NFPA 70E Arc-Flash Safety.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industrial manufacturing technician experience with associates or bachelor's degree in Industrial Maintenance and/or Automation/Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience with PLC and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to use common, electrical and tolerance measuring devices and equipment.
