About the position

The House Operations Manager (HOM) at the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus is responsible for coordinating and facilitating patient care functions within the hospital, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures. This role focuses on planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving healthcare operations, clinical education programs, and research programs. The HOM will lead a team, manage performance, and advocate for the needs of the unit while enhancing patient satisfaction and care coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, and manage the performance of staff in a nursing unit or clinic.
  • Prepare and assist in the development of the budget; monitor and maintain the unit/clinic operating budget within specified targets.
  • Provide leadership to establish and maintain efficient systems for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Assess care coordination within the multidisciplinary team to maximize patient satisfaction.
  • Develop action plans that meet healthcare strategic goals and monitor their implementation.
  • Educate and mentor staff in managing complex patient care issues and provide clinical education.
  • Encourage staff participation in evidence-based practice research initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Nursing is required; preferred Master's degree or Doctorate.
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.
  • 3+ years of nursing leadership and management experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership and management.
  • Current experience in intermediate or critical care clinical practice, with 3-5 years preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer software applications.
  • Experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work environment.
  • Certification in a role or specialty through a nationally recognized professional nursing certification body.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
