About the position
The House Supervisor is a Registered Nurse responsible for overseeing the management of all department service functions during their shift at Saint Michael's Medical Center. This role involves ensuring efficient operations, monitoring the quality of care, and providing direct support to nursing staff and patients. The House Supervisor acts as the administrative authority in the absence of hospital administrative staff, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and enhancing the patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assume administrative responsibility for the management of all department service functions on shift.
- Make frequent rounds throughout the facility to monitor care delivery and oversee service quality.
- Directly supervise and communicate with all staff house-wide.
- Ensure efficient operations and patient flow throughout the hospital.
- Perform direct patient care as needed within the scope of practice.
- Ensure temporary agency personnel are deployed and oriented in compliance with hospital policy.
- Assist medical staff with scheduling after-hour procedures and calling in standby staff members.
- Enhance the patient/family experience through supportive interactions and explanations of hospital policies.
Requirements
- Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- One (1) year prior experience as a Supervisor preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years acute care nursing experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
