About the position

The Housekeeper at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the hotel property according to the established standards and specifications. This part-time position requires adherence to safe working practices while performing various cleaning tasks. The Housekeeper will work a rotating schedule, typically 30-35 hours per week, and is expected to be available for shifts across all seven days of the week, including weekends and holidays. The role is seasonal and generally involves a five-day work week. Key responsibilities include stripping rooms of soiled linens, making beds, stocking guest rooms, and inspecting all assigned rooms daily, regardless of occupancy. The Housekeeper will also maintain and organize supplies in housekeeping closets and the warehouse area, launder bedspreads and curtains as needed, and ensure that all guest amenities are in place and meet Shaker Village standards. Additionally, the Housekeeper will clean common areas, assist in laundry and warehouse tasks, and report any maintenance issues to the Front Desk. The position requires a commitment to customer service, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols. Housekeepers must demonstrate good grooming and professionalism, follow key control and security procedures, and maintain labor efficiency as directed by management. The role also involves participation in staff meetings and training sessions, promoting Shaker Village positively, and ensuring confidentiality regarding business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Strips rooms and bags soiled linens, terry, and trash for facilities and radios for pick up or takes to warehouse area.
  • Makes beds and couches according to Shaker Village standards.
  • Cleans all assigned guest rooms and stocks them appropriately.
  • Inspects all rooms in the assigned building daily, even if unoccupied.
  • Maintains and organizes stock supplies in housekeeping closets and warehouse area.
  • Launders bedspreads, blankets, and curtains as scheduled or needed.
  • Checks for proper operation of TVs, clock radios, lamps, windows, locks, drains, plumbing, and telephones, reporting issues to Front Desk for maintenance.
  • Cleans hallways, stairs, and other common areas as assigned.
  • Assists in laundry/warehouse and other housekeepers as requested.
  • Makes up air mattresses and 'pack and plays' as needed.
  • Cleans window sills in rooms and public areas for dust, cobwebs, debris, and insects daily.
  • Inspects completed rooms to ensure all items are in good working order and meet standards.
  • Sweeps and vacuums hardwood and rugs in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Reports inventory shortages to Housekeeping Manager and Lodging Manager.
  • Calls for trash pick-up and empties trash at the end of the day into the exterior dumpster.
  • Cleans outside and inside trash containers and recycling bins.
  • Carries out deep cleaning activities as assigned.
  • Cleans and stocks coffee machines and microwaves/refrigerators in all areas.
  • Turns in all lost and found items, tagging and storing as directed by Lodging Manager.
  • Practices safe work habits and uses protective equipment where appropriate.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
  • Ability to communicate in basic English, including understanding verbal instructions, reading basic words and symbols, and writing basic English to identify maintenance issues.
  • Knowledge of general cleaning procedures preferred.
  • Prior housekeeping experience is a plus.
