About the position

The Housekeeping Aide position is responsible for performing daily housekeeping tasks to maintain the facility in a clean, orderly, and attractive condition. This role is essential for ensuring the health and safety of residents by adhering to established policies and procedures, and it involves direct interaction with residents and staff to meet their needs.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment, when performing tasks, using equipment and supplies.
• Keep work areas free of hazardous objects such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.
• Disinfect assigned areas with special solutions to prevent the spread of disease.
• Ensure premises, equipment, and facility are clean, orderly, and attractive at all times.
• Help answer call lights and inform appropriate staff members of residents' needs.
• Replenish supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items; return unused supplies to the utility room at the end of the shift.
• Clean cart and equipment; leave soiled cleaning cloths and mops in designated areas.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Display service excellence and standards of behavior to promote resident satisfaction.
• Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and practices to ensure quality job performance and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education, or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
