About the position

The Housekeeping Aide position at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, California, involves maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in assigned areas of the medical center. Under direct supervision, the aide is responsible for performing a variety of environmental services duties to ensure a neat, orderly, sanitary, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role is crucial in supporting the overall health and safety standards of the facility, contributing to a positive experience for all who enter the medical center. The Housekeeping Aide will operate various cleaning equipment, including but not limited to, wet mop units, dust mops, back vacuums, automatic floor scrubbers, shampoo machines, high-speed buffers, carpet extractors, and utility carts. The aide will utilize standard cleaning products to clean patient areas such as restrooms, discharge beds, furniture, and all horizontal surfaces, ensuring that all areas are sanitized and well-maintained. Additionally, the aide will be responsible for cleaning auxiliary areas, including medication rooms, nursing stations, and waiting rooms, among others. In this role, the aide will also replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soap, and report any unsafe conditions or defective equipment. The position requires adherence to safety rules and proper body mechanics, including lifting techniques, to ensure personal safety and the safety of others. The job demands extensive standing and walking, along with the ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting, making physical fitness an essential aspect of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and maintains assigned areas to ensure a neat and sanitary environment.
  • Operates and utilizes various cleaning equipment and machinery.
  • Cleans patient areas including restrooms, discharge beds, and furniture using standard cleaning products.
  • Cleans auxiliary areas such as medication rooms, nursing stations, and waiting rooms.
  • Replenishes supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soap.
  • Reports unsafe conditions and defective equipment to supervisors.
  • Follows safety rules and uses proper body mechanics during cleaning tasks.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to carry items weighing 25 lbs.
  • Ability to push carts weighing up to 200 lbs.
  • Ability to perform frequent pulling, pushing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
  • Willingness to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum six (6) months of experience in a similar role preferred.
