About the position
The Housekeeping Assistant at NHC HealthCare Fort Oglethorpe is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires effective communication and the ability to work with standard cleaning chemicals while adhering to established cleaning schedules and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Clean patient bathrooms including sinks, toilets, tubs, and showers.
- Empty garbage cans in patient rooms, bathrooms, activity areas, and other areas throughout the center.
- Clean patient rooms, including mopping and/or buffing floors, and dusting furniture.
- Clean hallways by sweeping up debris, mopping, stripping, and buffing floors according to company policies.
- Clean walls, furniture, and equipment as needed to maintain a clean environment.
- Work safely and follow proper procedures when using chemical agents.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to read and understand Standard English.
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with patients, families, fellow employees, and visitors.
- Able to be on feet for 7-8 hours a day.
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend, and climb as required by the job.
- Able to lift 20 to 25 pounds frequently and 50 to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Able to move heavy furniture (75 to 100 pounds) occasionally.
- Able to see, hear, and communicate adequately to complete job duties.
Nice-to-haves
- Training in Housekeeping/Laundry is preferred.
