About the position

21c Museum Hotels is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Room Attendant to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of our hotel, ensuring guest satisfaction through meticulous cleaning and preparation of guest rooms and public areas. The Housekeeping Room Attendant will report directly to the Executive Housekeeper and will be responsible for adhering to established cleaning standards while engaging with guests in a friendly and professional manner. The primary responsibilities include retrieving items from shelves and storerooms, setting up cleaning carts with necessary supplies, and ensuring that all areas are organized and clean. The attendant will clean and wipe down windows, doors, walls, and fixtures in both guest rooms and public areas, maintaining a presentable facility at all times. This role requires the use of ladders or stools to reach high areas, as well as washing shower walls, tubs, toilets, and sinks to uphold hygiene standards. In addition to cleaning, the Housekeeping Room Attendant will restock room amenities, wash hard floor areas, dust and polish furniture, and ensure that all linens are fresh and clean. The attendant will also inspect room equipment for functionality and report any deficiencies to management. A friendly demeanor is essential, as the attendant will interact with guests and other staff members regularly. The role may also involve cleaning outdoor areas and assisting other departments as needed. This position requires flexibility in working hours, including nights and weekends, and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions. A clean and professional appearance is expected, and candidates must pass a background check. Physical demands include maneuvering a fully loaded maid cart weighing up to 50lbs, pushing, pulling, bending, and kneeling throughout the workday.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and prepares guest rooms and public areas to meet established cleaning standards.
  • Retrieves items from shelves and storerooms, setting up cleaning carts with supplies for daily use.
  • Cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in rooms and public areas.
  • Washes shower walls and tubs, cleans toilets and stall walls, and wipes exposed pipes and mirrors.
  • Replaces towels, soaps, and all room amenities, ensuring hotel standards for arriving guests.
  • Washes all hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas.
  • Dusts and polishes all furniture, fixtures, and wall hangings, including vents and ceiling corners.
  • Strips beds of all linen and remakes with fresh linen, checking for cleanliness of bedspreads and blankets.
  • Inspects all door and window locks to ensure they are secure and report any issues to management.
  • Inspects room equipment (TV, lights, faucets) for proper working order and report deficiencies to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Cleans patio/balcony areas and provides assistance to other employees and departments as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Entry-level position, experience a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Responsible, dependable, and punctual with a clean and professional appearance.
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in housekeeping or a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
