About the position
The Housekeeping/Maintenance Coordinator at Helen Keller Services is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment for consumers, staff, and visitors at the Brooklyn facility. This role involves executing the organization's mission and objectives through effective housekeeping and light maintenance services.
Responsibilities
- Provide cleaning services to maintain the interior of the buildings in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Assist in exterior cleaning on a temporary basis.
- Perform cleaning of offices, classrooms, corridors, furnishings, toilet rooms, storerooms, and workrooms.
- Assist in cleaning sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas of snow or debris when required.
- Remove trash and debris to outside containers.
- Conduct typical light building maintenance such as lighting, wall, ceiling, and furniture repairs.
- Perform light mechanical maintenance including filter changes, drive-belt changes, and lubrications.
- Use a variety of tools for cleaning and maintenance processes, including drills, saws, and vacuum machines.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or the Director of the Department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Prior housekeeping and maintenance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of proper use and storage of hazardous cleaning and related materials.
