About the position

The Housekeeping/Maintenance Coordinator at Helen Keller Services is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment for consumers, staff, and visitors at the Brooklyn facility. This role involves executing the organization's mission and objectives through effective housekeeping and light maintenance services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cleaning services to maintain the interior of the buildings in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Assist in exterior cleaning on a temporary basis.
  • Perform cleaning of offices, classrooms, corridors, furnishings, toilet rooms, storerooms, and workrooms.
  • Assist in cleaning sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas of snow or debris when required.
  • Remove trash and debris to outside containers.
  • Conduct typical light building maintenance such as lighting, wall, ceiling, and furniture repairs.
  • Perform light mechanical maintenance including filter changes, drive-belt changes, and lubrications.
  • Use a variety of tools for cleaning and maintenance processes, including drills, saws, and vacuum machines.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or the Director of the Department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior housekeeping and maintenance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of proper use and storage of hazardous cleaning materials.
