About the position

As a Housekeeping Room Attendant at 21c Museum Hotels, you will play a vital role in ensuring that guest rooms and public areas are cleaned and prepared to meet established standards of cleanliness. This position is essential for maintaining guest satisfaction and the overall appearance of the property. You will be responsible for retrieving items from shelves and storerooms, setting up your cleaning cart with necessary supplies, and keeping both your cart and storerooms organized and tidy. Your daily tasks will include cleaning and wiping down windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in guest rooms and public areas, ensuring that the facility remains clean and presentable at all times. In addition to general cleaning duties, you will be required to wash shower walls and tubs, clean toilets and stall walls, and wipe down exposed pipes and mirrors. You will also be responsible for replacing towels, soaps, and other room amenities, as well as restocking literature that may have been removed or soiled by previous guests. Your role will involve washing hard floor areas by hand, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, and stripping beds of all linen to remake them with fresh linens. You will need to check for cleanliness in closets and restock guest room supplies such as hangers and extra blankets. You will also be tasked with vacuuming rooms, public areas, and hallways, which may involve operating vacuums weighing up to 25 lbs and moving heavy furniture to ensure thorough cleaning. Inspecting door and window locks for security, checking room equipment for functionality, and reporting any deficiencies to the Executive Housekeeper will also be part of your responsibilities. Throughout your workday, maintaining a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor is essential, as you will be contributing to the overall performance of the department and hotel. Other duties may be assigned as necessary by management, including cleaning patio and balcony areas and assisting other employees and departments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and prepares guest rooms and public areas to meet established cleaning standards.
  • Retrieves items from shelves and storerooms, setting up cleaning cart with supplies for daily use.
  • Cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in rooms and public areas.
  • Washes shower walls and tubs, cleans toilets and stall walls, and wipes exposed pipes and mirrors.
  • Replaces towels, soaps, and all room amenities in guest rooms.
  • Restocks literature that has been removed or soiled by previous guests.

  • Strips beds of all linen and remakes with fresh linen, checking for cleanliness of bedspreads and blankets.
  • Lifts mattresses to check for soil between mattresses and under beds.
  • Checks closets for cleanliness and restocks guest room supplies such as hangers and extra blankets.
  • Vacuum rooms, public areas, and hallways, operating vacuums weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Inspects all door and window locks to ensure they are in working order and reports any issues.
  • Inspects all room equipment to ensure proper working order and reports deficiencies to management.
  • Secures and maintains custody of equipment, keys, and supplies at all times.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Cleans patio and balcony areas, picking up garbage and cleaning furniture and fixtures.
  • Provides assistance to other employees and departments as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Entry-level position, experience a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively.
