About the position

As a Housekeeping Room Attendant at 21c Museum Hotels, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of guest rooms and public areas. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all areas meet the established standards of cleanliness, thereby assuring guest satisfaction. This position requires a proactive approach to cleaning and organizing, as well as a commitment to providing a welcoming environment for guests. You will be responsible for retrieving items from shelves and storerooms, setting up your cleaning cart with necessary supplies, and keeping both the cart and storerooms organized and tidy. In your daily tasks, you will clean and wipe down windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in guest rooms and public areas. This includes washing shower walls and tubs, cleaning toilets, and ensuring that all surfaces are sanitized and presentable. You will also be responsible for replacing towels, soaps, and other room amenities, as well as restocking literature for incoming guests. Additionally, you will wash hard floor areas by hand, dust and polish furniture, and ensure that beds are stripped and remade with fresh linens. Your role will also involve inspecting room equipment to ensure everything is in working order and reporting any deficiencies to the Executive Housekeeper. You will need to maintain a friendly and courteous demeanor at all times, as you will be interacting with guests and other staff members. The position may require you to perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall performance of the hotel and its staff.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and prepares guest rooms and public areas to meet established cleaning standards.
  • Retrieves items from shelves and storerooms, setting up cleaning cart with supplies for daily use.
  • Cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in rooms and public areas.
  • Washes shower walls and tubs, cleans toilets and stall walls, and wipes exposed pipes and mirrors.
  • Replaces towels, soaps, and all room amenities, ensuring hotel standards for arriving guests.
  • Washes all hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas.
  • Dusts and polishes all furniture, fixtures, and wall hangings.
  • Strips beds of all linen and remakes with fresh linen, checking for cleanliness.
  • Checks closets for cleanliness and restocks guest room supplies.
  • Vacuum rooms, public areas, and hallways, operating vacuums weighing up to 25lbs.
  • Inspects all door and window locks to ensure they are secure.
  • Inspects room equipment to ensure proper working order and reports deficiencies.
  • Secures and maintains custody of equipment, keys, and supplies at all times.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Cleans patio/balcony areas and provides assistance to other employees and departments.

Requirements

  • Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
  • Must understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Clean and professional appearance is required.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Experience in housekeeping is a plus, but not required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
