About the position

At The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, we are committed to providing an exceptional experience for our guests, and our Housekeeping Supervisor plays a crucial role in achieving this goal. The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of the housekeeping staff, ensuring that our high standards of cleanliness and service are met consistently. This position requires a proactive approach to managing the housekeeping team, promoting a safe and efficient work environment, and maintaining the quality of service that our guests expect from a luxury hotel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in housekeeping operations, with a focus on training and developing staff to deliver outstanding service. In this role, you will supervise and inspect the cleaning of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, ensuring compliance with health and sanitation standards. You will issue assignments to staff, review special requests, and manage inventory to ensure that all necessary supplies are available while controlling expenses. Responding to guest requests and concerns is a key part of the job, as is implementing emergency training and procedures to protect the hotel and its assets. The Housekeeping Supervisor must have open availability to meet the needs of the hotel and its guests, and be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is paramount.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the housekeeping staff, providing open communication, training, coaching, and counseling.
  • Inspect the cleaning of guest rooms, turndown service, public areas, and back of house to ensure compliance with health/sanitation standards.
  • Issue assignments to staff, reviewing special requests and areas of concentration for smooth operations.
  • Control inventory by issuing supplies/goods to staff at the beginning of shifts.
  • Respond to guest requests, concerns, and problems to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Log items into the Lost and Found and answer inquiries to maintain controls.
  • Implement emergency training and procedures to protect hotel, guest, staff, and company assets.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a related position, preferably in a luxury hotel setting.
  • Working knowledge of housekeeping operations and hotel services, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervisory skills to manage and lead the housekeeping team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a luxury hotel environment is preferred.
