About the position

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work activities of the housekeeping staff in a hotel setting. This role ensures that cleanliness, sanitation, and organization are maintained throughout the hotel, while also addressing guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of room status and report discrepancies.
  • Ensure that assigned staff have reported to work and document any late or absent employees.
  • Coordinate breaks for assigned staff and prepare assignment sheets.
  • Assign guest room keys and beepers to staff, maintaining accurate records for security.
  • Communicate changes to assignment sheets as they arise during shifts.
  • Inspect supply levels of floor closets and assign personnel to rectify deficiencies.
  • Check Room Attendant's carts for proper supplies and cleanliness.
  • Inspect rooms cleaned by Room Attendants using designated checklists.
  • Directly contact Room Attendants to relay deficiencies for correction.
  • Update room status after approving cleanliness and condition according to standards.
  • Check vacant rooms and verify status of discrepant rooms throughout the shift.
  • Inspect DND rooms and verify their status.
  • Mark dirty sheets in randomly selected rooms and ensure they are changed by Room Attendants.
  • Counsel Room Attendants on discrepancies found during inspections.
  • Inspect public areas and service areas after cleaning, using designated checklists.
  • Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Housekeeping Clerk.
  • Contact Engineering for urgent repairs.
  • Conduct training of staff as assigned and provide feedback on performance to management.
  • Report disciplinary problems to management and participate in employee counseling.
  • Document pertinent information in the department log book.
  • Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving.
  • Review status of assignments and follow-up actions with management.
  • Check P.M. reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete night counts in accordance with departmental standards.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Six months to one year related supervisory experience.
