About the position

The Housekeeping Supervisor at Embassy Suites Houston Downtown is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and tidiness throughout the hotel. This role involves managing the housekeeping and laundry department efficiently, ensuring customer satisfaction, and controlling costs while supervising housekeeping staff and performing cleaning duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and tidiness in all rooms, corridors, function rooms, and public areas are maintained.
  • Supervise and inspect the daily cleaning of assigned rooms, bathrooms, corridor areas, and public areas to the highest standards.
  • Service rooms as needed, including changing bed linen, replacing towels, and cleaning bathrooms thoroughly.
  • Maintain the upkeep of vacant rooms and replenish brochures and paper goods throughout the hotel.
  • Maintain an orderly storeroom and trollies.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction is maintained according to ALH and brand standards.
  • Collect, charge, and return guest laundry in a speedy and accurate manner.
  • Log and store guest property left behind in a secure location for lost property.
  • Resolve guest problems or complaints and keep management informed.
  • Action maintenance requests to comply with the hotel's established quality standards.
  • Set and maintain standards of service according to brand specifications.
  • Manage stock control and ordering system to ensure availability and cost control.
  • Attend appropriate training courses and wear a clean uniform and name badge at all times.
  • Implement the hotel's good customer relations policy, addressing guests and colleagues politely.
  • Report and document any observed safety hazards or unsafe practices to management.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably required by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months similar or related experience in a hotel or resort environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual preferred.
