About the position

The Houseparents position at Milton Hershey School involves married couples living on campus to provide a nurturing and structured environment for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Flex houseparents guide a group of approximately 8-12 students, ensuring their well-being and supporting their educational journey. This role requires a commitment to fostering a family-like atmosphere while managing various responsibilities related to student care.

Responsibilities

• Reside in on-campus student homes and provide guidance to students.
• Administer medication and manage budgeting for the household.
• Drive students to various activities and appointments.
• Report on student progress and any issues that arise.
• Lead daily devotions and accompany students to chapel services.

Requirements

• Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from underserved settings.
• Both spouses must be legally married for at least two years.
• Both spouses should be age 27 or older.
• Valid driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrate a high degree of integrity as role models for students.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a residential setting or with group living environments.
• Familiarity with Judeo-Christian values and practices.
