About the position

Hope House is seeking a Housing First minded Case Manager to support families experiencing homelessness in Milwaukee, WI. The role focuses on helping clients retain housing and access necessary services for long-term success. The Case Manager will engage with clients through home visits, assess their needs, and connect them with resources to ensure stability and self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ongoing home visits and case management relationships with homeless individuals and families.
• Assess and verify tenancy problems, income, and needs.
• Help individuals connect with employment services and/or obtain financial assistance from government or private sources.
• Assist clients in obtaining mainstream resources, including recertification of housing subsidies.
• Develop a service plan with goals for successful case closing and implement the plan.
• Provide information to individuals regarding additional community resources they may need and want.
• Maintain required data on all cases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and/or 2 years experience working with a homeless population.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Working vehicle and insurance.
• Effective problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in situations where clients may be angry or anxious.
• Attention to detail in follow-up, file completion, and case notes.
• Ability to interact respectfully with people of diverse ages, races, and household composition.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with housing case management or work with homeless or housing insecure populations.
• Household budgeting knowledge.
• Knowledge of mainstream benefits.
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Benefits

• Compensation of $17-21/hour commensurate with experience.
