About the position

The Housing Coordinator is responsible for assisting homeless households in obtaining and maintaining basic household furnishings, ensuring compliance with housing quality standards, and advocating for clients in landlord-related issues. This role involves assessing program eligibility, conducting apartment inspections, and maintaining accurate client records while participating in community outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Assess prospective clients for program eligibility through receipt of internal and external referrals
  • Assist homeless households with obtaining and maintaining basic household furnishings
  • Conduct apartment inspections to ensure apartments are safe and in compliance with Housing and Urban Development Housing Quality Standards
  • Assist clients with coordination of rent renewals and advocate for clients to resolve any landlord-related issues
  • Transport clients to view potential apartments and assist with obtaining household-related items as needed
  • Collect monthly rent from clients
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate client files, case notes, and databases as required by agency/programmatic policies and procedures
  • Participate in community outreach efforts to obtain additional resources for clients
  • Meet with each client as required by the Program or based on client needs
  • Comply with the laws and regulations relevant to the position and services

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences (preferred)
  • 1-2 years of related experience (minimum)
  • 3+ years of related experience (preferred)
  • Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Agency-specified automobile insurance
