This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing both the interior and exterior of housing and shelter units, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards. The technician evaluates the condition of these units, estimates the necessary equipment and materials for repairs, and performs a variety of maintenance tasks to uphold the integrity of the facilities. Under the supervision of a Housing Supervisor, the Housing Technician will troubleshoot and resolve issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, heating and cooling equipment, and more. This includes fabricating and installing flooring and drywall, changing locks, and painting. The technician is also responsible for maintaining the exterior of the facilities, which involves tasks such as painting, repairing fences and walkways, performing landscaping, and ensuring the cleanliness of the surroundings. In addition to hands-on maintenance work, the Housing Technician will drive to various locations to complete work orders, maintain service records, and process necessary paperwork. The role requires the technician to turn over housing and shelter units upon tenant move-out or vacancy, ensuring that the units are ready for new occupants.
