About the position

The position involves maintaining and repairing both the interior and exterior of public housing units. The individual will be responsible for evaluating the condition of these housing units and estimating the necessary equipment and materials needed for repairs. The essential functions of the role include troubleshooting and isolating problems within the facilities, which may involve repairing or replacing plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and heating and cooling equipment. Additionally, the role requires fabricating and installing flooring and drywall, changing locks, and performing painting tasks to ensure the interior of the facilities is well-maintained. On the exterior, the responsibilities extend to painting, repairing fences and walkways, performing landscaping duties, and removing litter to maintain a clean and safe environment. The individual will also be tasked with estimating equipment needs by evaluating the condition of the units, ordering materials, maintaining service records, and processing necessary paperwork. Other duties include cleaning work areas, repairing equipment, assisting with special carpentry projects as needed, delivering appliances, responding to emergency maintenance calls, and providing guidance to personnel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the interior of facilities by troubleshooting and repairing plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, heating and cooling equipment, and installing flooring and drywall.
  • Change locks and perform painting tasks to ensure the interior is well-maintained.
  • Maintain the exterior of facilities by painting, repairing fences and walkways, performing landscaping, and removing litter.
  • Estimate equipment needs by evaluating the condition of housing units and ordering materials.
  • Maintain service records and process necessary paperwork related to maintenance activities.
  • Clean work areas and repair equipment as needed.
  • Assist with special carpentry projects as required.
  • Deliver appliances and respond to emergency maintenance calls.
  • Provide guidance to personnel as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience maintaining and repairing housing units.
  • Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
