About the position

The HP Unix/System Administrator position involves the design, planning, implementation, and support of high-end HP-UX servers, specifically focusing on Integrity Superdome and RX8640 systems. The role requires a deep understanding of HP-UX high availability and disaster recovery solutions, particularly in a multi-cluster environment. The administrator will be responsible for ensuring that the systems are configured correctly and are operating efficiently, providing critical support in a disaster recovery site. In this role, the administrator will also be tasked with the installation and configuration of HP-UX servers and Service Guard Clusters in a multi-node environment. This includes troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise, ensuring that the systems are running optimally. The position requires a hands-on approach, as the administrator will be acting as a Customer Engineer, providing direct support to clients and ensuring their needs are met effectively. The position is based in Saline, MI, but may require travel to various customer locations across the U.S. to perform necessary tasks. This travel requirement emphasizes the need for flexibility and readiness to engage with clients directly, ensuring that all installations and configurations are tailored to their specific environments and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, implement, and support high-end HP-UX servers including Integrity Superdome and RX8640.
  • Provide HP-UX high availability and disaster recovery solutions in a multi-cluster environment.
  • Install, configure, and support HP-UX servers and Service Guard Clusters in a multi-node environment.
  • Act as a Customer Engineer, providing direct support to clients and ensuring their needs are met effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to HP-UX systems to ensure optimal performance.

Requirements

  • Associate degree with 7 years of experience in a related field; or a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field with 4 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience with HP-UX servers, particularly Integrity Superdome and RX8640 systems.
  • Strong knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions in multi-cluster environments.
  • Experience with installation and configuration of HP-UX servers and Service Guard Clusters.
