About the position

The HPWT Maintenance Supervisor at the University of Florida is responsible for leading and managing a High-Performance Work Team (HPWT) that includes Maintenance Generalists and Custodial Workers. This role involves overseeing maintenance and custodial operations within a designated zone, ensuring safety compliance, scheduling work, and maintaining communication with customers to meet their needs. The supervisor will also engage in skilled repair work across various trades and conduct performance evaluations of team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, assist, schedule, motivate, and evaluate the High-Performance Work Team (HPWT).
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and policies.
  • Develop work schedules and determine work order priorities.
  • Assign work appropriately and monitor team performance.
  • Inspect ongoing work and assist employees as needed.
  • Use computer systems to requisition supplies, generate project estimates, and track assets.
  • Maintain and inventory custodial equipment and machines.
  • Communicate regularly with HPWT Zone Customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide immediate responses to customer issues during working hours.
  • Assign work orders in AiM and charge time as needed.
  • Supervise and assist in skilled repairs to plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and structures.
  • Install and repair various building components such as doors, locks, and flooring.
  • Conduct inspections of custodial work and provide training to custodial staff.
  • Coordinate repair efforts with other trades and contractors.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews of assigned personnel.
  • Check and approve employee time on Kronos.
  • Perform preventative inspections and generate maintenance reports.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in a recognized trade and relevant experience totaling five years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and five years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of skilled building trades and safety procedures.
  • Skilled in using hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and repair work principles.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
