About the position

The HR and Operations Manager at Hope Builders is a strategic and hands-on professional responsible for overseeing all human resources functions and operational processes. This role is crucial in fostering a positive work environment, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing a small team focused on vendor management and facility maintenance. The position plays a key role in supporting the organization's mission to empower young people through job training and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staffing processes including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and termination of employees.
  • Administer compensation and benefits, including pay and leave management.
  • Develop and support employee retention strategies and design effective onboarding and training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and regulations, and manage diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives.
  • Assist the Executive Director with administrative duties related to the board of directors, including meeting materials and minutes preparation.
  • Represent the Executive Director in meetings or tours when necessary.
  • Coordinate events and meetings for staff and boards, maintaining an annual budget for related expenditures.
  • Manage a year-round internship program for low-income youth and young adults through HBCC.
  • Oversee facility usage, asset management, and IT support administration.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and collaborate with teams to improve organizational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an administrative role with project management duties.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience in a nonprofit or community-based setting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collect and analyze meaningful data.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Valid CA Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods and lift at least 20 pounds.
