About the position

The HR and Payroll Specialist at Tower EV will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of payroll functions while also supporting various HR operations. This role encompasses managing payroll processing, assisting with HR policies, and supporting a range of HR functions, including employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance in payroll processing. In this role, the HR and Payroll Specialist will manage the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for all employees, including drivers. This includes ensuring the accuracy of timesheets, deductions, and wage calculations, as well as resolving any payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing relevant information. The specialist will also maintain and update payroll records, including employee changes, terminations, and new hires, while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. Additionally, the specialist will assist in developing, implementing, and administering HR policies and procedures, support employee relations initiatives, and collaborate with the HR Manager to ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies. Conducting new employee orientations and administering benefits programs such as health insurance and retirement plans will also be key responsibilities. The role will require generating payroll reports and providing analytical support to management on compensation and benefits trends, as well as managing HRIS and payroll systems to ensure data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for all employees, including drivers.
  • Ensure the accuracy of timesheets, deductions, and wage calculations.

  • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee changes, terminations, and new hires.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and administrating HR policies and procedures.
  • Support employee relations initiatives, including conflict resolution, coaching, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager to ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure accurate documentation of employee records.
  • Administer benefits programs such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and payroll tax obligations.
  • Generate payroll reports and provide analytical support to management on compensation and benefits trends.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits, ensuring data was secure and up-to-date.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies.
  • Assist in the resolution of payroll-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage HRIS and payroll systems to ensure data integrity.
  • Input and update employee data to ensure system accuracy.
  • Assist in system improvements and provide training to staff on HR and payroll systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll processing and HR generalist functions.
  • Experience with payroll software (ADP preferred).
  • Strong understanding of payroll practices and regulations.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, including employee relations, benefits, and compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage confidential information professionally.
