The HR and Safety Coordinator at Herff Jones plays a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) functions within the Framing Success Division. This position is based in Virginia Beach, VA, and offers a starting pay range of $24 to $35 per hour. The Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, employee resources, policy compliance, onboarding, and training. The role requires effective interaction with the HR Business Partner, Safety Director, Senior Leadership, and various departments to fulfill HR and Safety needs. A solid foundation in HR knowledge and safety practices is essential for success in this position. On a daily basis, the HR and Safety Coordinator will establish and maintain effective relationships with Plant Managers, Supervisors, and production personnel. They will provide HR and Safety support for functions including onboarding, training, administration, reporting, and compliance. The Coordinator will also serve as a secondary contact for regulatory compliance agencies and utilize the corporate EHS management platform to maintain metrics and information related to EHS. Conducting EHS audits, identifying violations, and applying abatement periods are also key responsibilities. The Coordinator will take necessary steps to enhance a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel, attend HR and Safety meetings, support payroll processing for employees, and assist with employee events such as recognition and annual celebrations. The ideal candidate will bring a Bachelor's degree, HR and/or Safety certification, and 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources and Safety, preferably in a manufacturing environment. They should possess a general understanding of HR and Safety tools, be comfortable with conflict resolution, and have proven communication skills across all organizational levels. The role also requires intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems and technology. Physical demands include lifting and moving up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and performing various physical activities throughout a typical 10-hour shift.
