About the position

The HR Assistant II position at Martin/Martin, Inc. is designed for an experienced individual who will support various HR functions, including recruiting, benefits administration, and leave management. This role requires a strong understanding of HR processes and the ability to maintain HR databases while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and possess excellent communication skills, contributing to a positive employee experience within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruiting efforts, including managing job postings and screening resumes.
  • Assist with benefits administration, including annual open enrollment and employee inquiries.
  • Process leave-of-absence and disability paperwork, providing customer support for HR processes.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for new hires and maintain onboarding materials.
  • Update HR databases and manage data accuracy within HRIS systems.
  • Complete Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) to track employee changes and handle employment verifications.
  • Support senior HR staff on special projects and initiatives across HR functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of HR experience, with a strong understanding of HR administrative processes.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain composure in confrontational situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in engineering firms or professional service firms with technically focused employees.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems and developing strong relationships across functional areas.
