About the position

The Assistant Manager of Human Resources at Temperature Equipment Corporation/National Excelsior Company (TEC/NEC) will collaborate closely with the HR Manager to develop competitive recruitment campaigns and internal processes aimed at attracting and retaining talent across the organization. This role requires a creative problem solver who can enhance hiring practices and support HR team objectives, ensuring compliance with employment laws and fostering positive employee relations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of federal and state employment laws to ensure company compliance.
  • Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and orientation of new hires.
  • Conduct investigations and make recommendations on resolutions.
  • Support managers in issuing corrective actions to ensure fair and consistent practices.
  • Ensure regulatory and legal compliance with corporate guidelines and federal/state requirements.
  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) for compliance training.
  • Handle unemployment claims through Case Builder.
  • Conduct market research to ensure competitive compensation practices.
  • Foster positive employee relations by addressing inquiries and promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Act as a backup for the Human Resources Manager.

Requirements

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Certification as a SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP or CP) or Professional in Human Resources (SPHR/PHR).
  • 4+ years of experience in HR, preferably in the wholesale distribution industry.
  • Knowledge of labor laws, safety regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) and HRIS software.
  • Time management and project management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
