About the position

The position is responsible for coordinating workers' compensation, safety, wellness, and employee benefits across all Birkey's locations. The role supports the HR Manager and store locations by managing various HR functions, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing employee relations through effective communication and program implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate workers compensation, OSHA reporting, FMLA, ACA, and processing of disability claims.
  • Provide communication and education of the benefits plans, conduct enrollment meetings, and manage benefit enrollments including additions, changes, and terminations.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and benefit vendors to resolve issues or obtain information.
  • Implement company safety program and provide information for monthly safety meetings.
  • Track safety meetings and conduct monthly safety meetings for Champaign.
  • Implement company wellness challenges/programs and lead the wellness committee.
  • Oversee employee evaluations including creating, updating, distributing, and tracking of all employee performance evaluations.
  • Keep job descriptions up to date and assist with developing new job descriptions.
  • Provide employee support pertaining to the 401(k) plan and assist employees in accessing their accounts.
  • Assist HR manager with developing policies, procedures, and programs to increase employee relations.
  • Provide training to store locations related to payroll and HR duties.
  • Coordinate COBRA administration and assist with annual audit, discrimination testing, and preparation of 5500s as required.
  • Keep job-related forms current and posted on the portal.
  • Assist in planning meetings, banquets, and activities as requested.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to the company safety program.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of related experience in HR or benefits administration.
  • Ability to set work priorities and work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain high motivation in team members to ensure customer satisfaction.
