About the position

The HR Benefits Specialist at Liberty Public Schools is responsible for managing employee benefits, ensuring accurate enrollment, and addressing inquiries related to benefits. This role involves coordinating with various departments and vendors to facilitate the proper utilization of benefits and conducting audits to maintain accuracy in employee records.

Responsibilities

  • Administers all employee benefits including new enrollments, qualifying event changes, and terminations.
  • Addresses benefit inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolutions.
  • Maintains contact with employees and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
  • Plans, conducts, and reports results of audits to ensure all enrollments are accurate and that dependent information is correct for each employee.
  • Works closely with the payroll department and insurance providers.
  • Processes monthly billings from providers; reviews billings for accuracy and approves payment in a timely manner; resolves discrepancies with carriers and payroll.
  • Works with vendor to administer COBRA and retiree benefits.
  • Coordinates and leads benefits presentations to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions.
  • Administers annual open enrollment, including distribution of materials, scheduling and presenting meetings to communicate changes to employees, testing the enrollment system, and processing changes within deadlines.
  • Responds to and manages unemployment claims.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
