About the position

The HR Benefits Specialist at Nebraska Hematology Oncology is responsible for managing and administering employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans. This role also oversees the credentialing process for staff, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining accurate records. The specialist serves as a primary contact for employee inquiries related to benefits and credentialing, ensuring effective communication and administration aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement plans (401k), life insurance, and short-term disability.
  • Manage the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) process, including eligibility determination and compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate short-term disability claims and manage related paperwork and communications with insurance providers.
  • Conduct benefits orientation for new hires and provide ongoing education to current employees.
  • Manage open enrollment periods, including communicating changes and assisting employees with enrollment and selection.
  • Oversee the credentialing process for new hires and existing staff, verifying licenses and certifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of employee credentials and coordinate with external agencies for verification.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding employee benefits.
  • Prepare and review benefits-related reports for regulatory compliance and audits.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to benefits programs and credentialing processes.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in business, health-related field, or Human Resource Management.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of human resource or management experience.
  • Strong writing and public speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of employment and labor law.
  • Mid-level analysis skills in human resource management.
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare administration.
  • Familiarity with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and FMLA regulations.
