About the position

The HR Business Analyst for Projects at the University of Washington plays a crucial role in supporting the HR department by managing and analyzing various HR projects. This position involves collaborating with HR leaders and stakeholders to define business needs, document requirements, and ensure that HR solutions align with organizational objectives. The Analyst will also contribute to process improvements and help implement strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity within the HR function.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document business cases for HR project requests, including business needs and alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate scoping and requirements sessions with stakeholders.
  • Perform requirements analysis and verification to ensure completeness and clarity.
  • Manage requirements traceability and track status throughout the project.
  • Identify, document, and track issues through to resolution, escalating as needed.
  • Draft communications and status updates for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support development of testing scope and test cases, and assist with user acceptance testing.
  • Document projects and process improvement efforts using appropriate methods.
  • Establish credibility and build trusting relationships with business owners and leadership.
  • Participate in feasibility studies and vendor selections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technology or business-related field.
  • 2+ years of progressive HR Analyst or Project Management experience.
  • Experience in executing complex business analyses including scope definition and requirements gathering.
  • Ability to define and translate user requests into effective specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional work groups.
  • Experience developing traceability matrices and assisting with user testing.
  • Strong analytical skills to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years hands-on functional experience in Workday HCM.
  • 1+ years experience working in HR.
