About the position

The HR Business Partner for Investment Banking at William Blair will play a crucial role in partnering with internal clients and the HRBP team to develop and implement key talent programs and processes. This position focuses on enhancing employee relations, performance management, career development, and inclusion and diversity initiatives within the Investment Banking team. The HR Business Partner will also provide consulting services to facilitate conflict resolution and support change management, ensuring alignment between employee capabilities and departmental goals.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal clients and the HRBP team to create and implement key talent programs and activities.
  • Provide internal HR consulting to departments for conflict resolution and employee relations matters.
  • Maintain close working relationships with managers to align employee capabilities with departmental goals.
  • Manage key HR processes including onboarding/offboarding and immigration.
  • Compile and report on key HR metrics, ensuring data accuracy in HR systems.
  • Support business colleagues with routine HR inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with HR-related laws and regulations.
  • Assist with policy development and updates, conducting research on best practices.
  • Collaborate with the International HR Business Partner team for coordination and best practice sharing.
  • Participate in advancing the overall effectiveness and engagement of the HR team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • SPHR certification desirable.
  • 4+ years of experience in Human Resources, primarily in an HR generalist/business partner capacity.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial services or professional services preferred.
  • Current knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong diplomacy skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and service orientation.
