About the position

The Associate Director, HR Partner at Takeda will serve as a strategic business partner and operational leader, providing comprehensive HR support to the Los Angeles site. This role is pivotal in driving HR initiatives and aligning people strategies with business objectives to enhance organizational effectiveness, overseeing a workforce of over 500 employees in a 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily HR operations, ensuring efficient and compliant execution of HR processes.
  • Coordinate with central HR teams for alignment and consistency in HR practices.
  • Drive HR projects and initiatives aligned with Takeda's strategic priorities.
  • Monitor and analyze HR metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Facilitate change management to support organizational transformation.
  • Partner with Senior Leadership and Head of HR to create a talent roadmap aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Support leaders in executing business strategy.
  • Translate workforce needs into short-term hiring and development plans.
  • Assess workforce gaps and proactively build the talent pipeline.
  • Participate in the hiring process for key roles.
  • Support leaders in building a strong leadership pipeline.
  • Influence and support proactive leadership development within business processes.
  • Facilitate identification of top talent.
  • Partner with Senior Leaders on development plans for key talent.
  • Champion new leadership development solutions relevant to business strategy.
  • Collaborate with leaders to identify development opportunities for key talent across the organization.
  • Enable leaders to effectively manage change.
  • Anticipate the impact on people and the organization resulting from potential changes.
  • Consult with leaders on minimizing disruption from change.
  • Advise leaders on guiding their teams through organizational change.
  • Stay aware of changes in business areas both internally and externally.
  • Diagnose opportunities to improve organizational performance using tools like 360 feedback, surveys, and employee metrics.
  • Design and implement initiatives to enhance performance.
  • Ensure organizational actions align with desired culture.
  • Partner with leaders to create a culture and environment fostering employee engagement and performance excellence.
  • Use data and predictive analytics to identify opportunities and measure the impact of efforts.
  • Ensure the integration of performance and reward practices.
  • Provide business perspectives on reward/recognition programs to align with business strategy.
  • Recommend tools, programs, and approaches for talent attraction, retention, and recognition.
  • Advocate and educate on reward and recognition philosophies to ensure fairness and inspire performance.
  • Assist leaders in executing the year-end compensation process, including employee calibration.
  • Partner with Employee Relations (ER) and legal to understand trends in performance and employee relations issues, advising appropriate remediation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in psychology, business or other human resources related field.
  • 8+ years of related experience with 3+ in a management role.
  • Previous Biotech, Pharma, or Manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
  • PHR/SPHR Certification or other Human Resources Management certification is preferred.
  • Strong, credible relationships with peers, management, and employees.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and judgment.
  • Ability to initiate and lead strategic HR projects or initiatives.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong skills in process management and improvement.
  • Approachable, customer-centric, and responsive to customer needs.
  • Strong listening, consulting, facilitation, presentation, and solid writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing and able to enter client work areas regularly and be available during off-hours for business needs.
  • Strong experience in employee relations, conflict resolution, and knowledge of CA and federal employment laws.
  • Working knowledge of staffing, training, compensation, performance management, change leadership, organizational design, and workforce planning.
  • Disciplined action and execution in HR roles.
  • Ability to drive operational excellence, process improvements, and promote teamwork.
  • Ability to persuade, influence, generate, and sell ideas.
  • Proficient in written and oral English.

  • Experience in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Advanced HR certifications beyond PHR/SPHR.
