About the position

The HR Communications Specialist at UC San Diego is a pivotal role within the Health Human Resources department, responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance the visibility and effectiveness of HR initiatives. This position operates under the general direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer and is tasked with creating a variety of communication deliverables, including email messages, newsletters, and digital content that effectively convey HR data, metrics, and analytics. The specialist will collaborate with HR subject matter experts and business leaders to ensure that the content is relevant, engaging, and aligned with organizational goals. In this hybrid role, the HR Communications Specialist will work both onsite at Greenwich Drive and remotely, adapting to various hours and locations based on business needs. The position requires a strong foundation in digital communications design and implementation, as well as expertise in writing and editing communication materials. The specialist will also be responsible for producing multimedia content, including web audio and video, and will serve as a communications advisor to the HR Leadership team, assisting in the preparation of organization-wide presentations and materials. The role demands advanced analytical skills to interpret business data and communicate it effectively through various channels. The HR Communications Specialist will also be involved in the development of interactive dashboards and other technical data presentations, ensuring that all communications are clear, concise, and impactful. Responsibilities

  • Create communication plans and messaging for HR initiatives.
  • Develop a variety of communication deliverables including emails, newsletters, and digital content.

Requirements

  • Nine years of related experience, education/training, or a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus five years of related experience/training.
  • Proven success in digital communications design and implementation.
  • Expertise in communication or journalism, writing, and creation of communication deliverables.
  • Experience in developing dashboards of technical and interactive data.
  • Demonstrated ability to write engaging content with excellent editing and grammatical skills.
  • Advanced analytical skills to comprehend business data for effective communication.
