About the position

The HR Communications Specialist at Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) is responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that enhance understanding and engagement in HR programs. This role involves creating compelling content related to benefits, talent management, career development, and diversity initiatives, while collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication across the organization. The position is based in San Antonio, TX, with potential locations in Findlay, OH, or Houston, TX, and reports to the Manager of HR Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute multi-channel employee communications plans for ongoing and new HR programs.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with HR program owners and subject matter experts by providing strategic counsel on messaging and best practices for engaging employees.
  • Write, produce, and edit communications content (emails, infographics, intranet stories, videos, etc.) that helps achieve HR and business objectives.
  • Collaborate on design and content for HR intranet pages to enhance the employee experience.
  • Coordinate with other HR Communications team members to manage communications timing and sequencing effectively.
  • Measure the impact of communications efforts and develop insights to inform future strategies.
  • Align HR content with the company vision, priorities, and values, implementing strategies that support an inclusive company culture.
  • Work cross-functionally with other Communications teams to ensure consistency and cohesion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, human resources, business or related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience producing communications for various channels and audiences at a medium to large-sized corporation or public relations firm.
  • Experience in the energy or manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, Poppulo, and Workday is preferred.
