About the position

The HR Communications Specialist at Bechtel is responsible for developing impactful communications to enhance the employee experience. This role involves planning, developing, and executing internal communications programs for global colleagues, with a focus on engaging employees through various communication channels. The position is based in Reston, VA, requiring in-office presence three days a week, and collaboration with colleagues across the company is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts announcements, communications plans, messaging, and talking points for various communication formats including print, web, and digital.
  • Works closely with internal teams on strategy, execution, and maintenance of communication efforts to engage Bechtel employees.
  • Conducts research on various projects, compiles information, and assists in developing strategic communications plans.
  • Assists in monitoring, maintaining, and updating internal communication platforms to ensure information is current and accessible.
  • Supports signature HR events, including Global HR All-hands, Q&A Sessions, and D&I Townhalls.

Requirements

  • University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint as well as Adobe.
  • Familiarity with employee communications software: Proze or comparable products.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in the use of AP style guide.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously delivering accurate results within deadlines.
  • Creative, organized, and enthusiastic individual with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a fast-changing environment.
