About the position

The HR Compensation Specialist II at Texas A&M University plays a crucial role in the administration of non-faculty staff titles and corresponding pay rates. This position is responsible for reviewing various supplemental compensation requests for faculty and staff, including merit increases, hiring salary adjustments, and temporary salary increases. The specialist will also assist in maintaining the university's compensation programs and provide recommendations on compensation projects such as market reviews and equity adjustments.

Responsibilities

  • Review and provide recommendations for supplemental compensation requests including merit and hiring salary adjustments.
  • Process supplemental compensation requests through Workday.
  • Assist in updating the Class & Comp Supplemental Compensation website and related links.
  • Answer complex questions regarding supplemental compensation policies.
  • Conduct periodic audits of supplemental compensation actions for accuracy.
  • Assist in providing cost projections for market or equity reviews.
  • Interpret university rules and procedures regarding compensation matters.
  • Respond to inquiries from HUB personnel regarding compensation issues.
  • Analyze salary data for various requests.
  • Teach compensation workshops as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of professional experience in compensation administration or human resources.
  • Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration with coursework in compensation administration.
  • Three or more years of experience in compensation administration.
  • Higher education HR experience.
  • Experience in applying and interpreting FLSA regulations.
  • Workday experience.
  • Statistical and report writing skills.
  • Strong Excel spreadsheet skills.
