About the position

The HR Compensation Specialist II at Texas A&M University plays a crucial role in the Division of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness by managing and reviewing supplemental compensation requests for faculty and staff. This position involves analyzing various compensation-related projects, ensuring compliance with university policies, and providing recommendations for pay adjustments and equity reviews. The specialist will also assist in maintaining compensation programs and support departments with cost projections and inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Review and provide recommendations for supplemental compensation requests including merit increases, hiring salary adjustments, and temporary salary increases.
  • Process supplemental compensation requests through Workday and update related websites.
  • Answer complex questions regarding supplemental compensation policies and procedures.
  • Assist in providing cost projections for market or equity reviews to departments.
  • Interpret university rules and procedures related to compensation matters.
  • Analyze salary data for various compensation requests and inquiries.
  • Conduct periodic audits of supplemental compensation actions for accuracy.
  • Assist with special projects and may serve on committees or working groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of professional experience in compensation administration, human resources, or a closely related field.
  • Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration with coursework in compensation administration.
  • Three or more years of experience in compensation administration.
  • Experience in higher education HR.
  • Experience in applying and interpreting FLSA regulations.
  • Workday experience.
  • Statistical and report writing skills, particularly strong Excel skills.
