The Human Resource Coordinator (Benefits Specialist) plays a crucial role in facilitating human resource processes across all business locations. This position serves as a vital link between property HR leaders and insurance providers, ensuring that benefits-related issues are resolved efficiently and that employees have a positive experience with their benefits. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all plans are administered in compliance with federal and state regulations, and that the provisions of these plans are adhered to. This role also involves providing administrative support to the HR function, which includes maintaining records, file management, and entering data into the HRIS system. In this position, the HR Coordinator will maintain effective communication with HR property leaders to ensure a smooth and timely return to work for team members who are on leave. They will advise managers on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers' compensation, and both short-term and long-term disability benefits. The coordinator will assist with inquiries from property HR leaders regarding the return-to-work process for employees coming back from extended FMLA, workers' compensation, or other types of leave. Additionally, they will maintain accurate records of leave and accommodation requests, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices. The HR Coordinator will also be responsible for reconciling benefit billing statements for each property and submitting them for approval. They will communicate with employees regarding Qualifying Life Events that necessitate additional documentation and assist in preparing Benefits Open Enrollment materials. The coordinator will conduct weekly audits of Evidence of Insurability for new hires and during open enrollment, tracking the status of candidates in the HRIS and providing follow-up notifications. Other clerical functions, such as photocopying, mailing, scanning, and emailing documents, will also be part of their responsibilities. The role may involve supporting special projects and other corporate HR functions as needed, along with performing other related duties as assigned.
